HBO made history with A Black Lady Sketch Show, the first all Black female led sketch comedy show of its kind. The highly anticipated premiere was instantly met with overwhelming love from critics and fans - and is currently up for three Emmy nominations. As the lead copywriter, I had to create a social persona that big-upped the commentary and comedy of ABLSS without perpetuating stereotypical Black female tropes. The voice had to balance a fine line between authentic and elevated.
